2019 Appalachian Striper Club Tournament Rules
  1. The Appalachian Striper Club will not be liable for any accident or injury to contestants or spectators or any damage to property. A contestant's entry into a tournament constitutes waiver of the rights to sue the Appalachian Striper Club, its successors and assignees, for any such accident, injury, or property damage.

  2. The base entry fee of $25 per team as set by the club must be paid by an active member before fishing any tournaments. (Members have until March 1st to pay before being considered inactive) Entry fees may be paid at the meeting prior to the tournament or a team member must notify the Tournament Director prior to the lines-in time of the tournament. If for any reason, except those of extreme circumstances which will be determined by the tournament committee, that a registrant agrees to enter a tournament and fails to pay by the time the weigh-in ends, that registrant (person or team) may not fish any more tournaments for the remainder of the year. The registrant must pay the club the outstanding tournament fee which will go directly into the general fund before fishing another tournament the following year. In the event, that this does occur, payout for the tournament will be based on the number of PAID boats for that day. 10% ($2.50) of the $25 club tournament entry fee per boat will go directly to the club's general fund.
It is the responsibility of the TEAM desiring to enter a Tournament to DIRECTLY contact the Tournament Director themselves either in person, or by phone, Text Message (if available to the Tournament Director), or Voice Mail BEFORE the lines-in time of the Tournament. If text message or Voice Mail is used, the Tournament Director will return a confirmation of the entry. Information on the individual who will be acting as Tournament Director will be published on the "Striper Board" (www.striperboard.com) early in the week of the Tournament Date.

  3. The entry fee of $5 as set by the club for the tournament big fish will make the total entry fee, $30 per team to be paid prior to weigh in. All participants of the club tournament must enter and pay this fee. The Big Fish Tournament will pay out 100%. In the event of ties for the Big Fish, the tied team with the largest total weight will be awarded the Big Fish payout.
It is the responsibility of each TEAM to place their largest fish on the scales FIRST. Once the weight of that first fish is called out, it will be recorded as the big fish for the team even if the second fish turns out to be larger.

  4. The entry fee for the TWT (Tournament Within Tournament) is $20. Participating in the TWT is optional. TWT winner takes all of TWT proceeds (100%). In the event of ties in the TWT, the tied team with the largest Big Fish will be awarded the TWT payout.

  5. Placing is determined by the combined weight of the two biggest fish caught per boat. In the event of ties in the Tournament placing, the tied teams will be placed based on Total Weight plus Big Fish to determine points. All fish to be weighed in MUST be measured prior to being weighed in order to provide needed fishery management harvest information to the Georgia DNR.

  6. All entrants must be checked in by the pre-determined time at the weigh-in site or will be disqualified.

  7. All tournaments, unless otherwise specified by the tournament committee, will be from safe light until 3:00 pm in which lines must come out of the water, and all boats must be checked in to the scales by 4:00 p.m. Fishing outside the predetermined fishing hours constitutes disqualification. "Safe Light" is defined as 30 minutes preceding official sunrise for that day and will be rounded to the nearest 15 minute interval as determined by the tournament committee. The Official Times and schedule including the weigh in location will be posted on "Striper board". If there is a deviation from the posted schedule or weigh in location due to the decision of the tournament committee, a tournament committee member may alter the schedule via posted message on "Striper board" the revised time or schedule for the upcoming tournament in which the altered and revised posted times and location becomes the rule. It is the entrant's responsibility to be aware of the changes as announced by the tournament committee through the use of "Striper board". You may access "Striper board" by visiting www.striperboard.com.

  8. Guests may fish up to two tournaments annually, but must fish with an Active Member.

  9. Immediate family, in accordance with the bylaws, of an active member may fish as many tournaments as they like with that active member.

  10. An entrant may possess the legal limit for the body of water fished during a tournament, but may weigh-in no more than the maximum number of fish allowed in the tournament. It is the individual angler's responsibility to be aware of the tournament limit prior to fishing. All fish weighed must measure a minimum of 12 inches total length with the fish's mouth closed.

  11. It is the responsibility of the entrant to practice and obey all laws pertaining to boating and fishing during the club tournament.

  12. If an entrant is suspected of an unsportsmanlike or unethical act or acts, the entrant may be challenged by the Tournament Committee and may be required to take a polygraph test at club expense. The Board of Directors will be the sole determiners as to disciplinary action taken, including loss of prize money and barring from future tournaments. (Any member believing they have knowledge of a possible infraction of the above tournament rules shall discreetly and privately bring the matter to the attention of the club President or one of the Board of Directors.)

  13. Cancellation policy - There will be no cancellations of any tournaments for any reason. Teams registered for a tournament must make their own individual participation decisions in case of weather or other conditions on the day of a tournament.

  14. Payouts for a monthly club tournament will be up to 3 places shown in the table below. In the event of ties in paying places (first, second, or third), the tied teams will be placed based on Total Weight plus Big Fish to determine payout placing.

Note: Tournament Payouts will be based on the number of Teams entered.

  15. Disposal of fish caught in a tournament is the sole responsibility of the team who caught the fish. In the interest of ASC’s goal of conserving the fishery, live fish should be returned to the lake if at all possible. However, recognizing that live release is not always possible, teams may either take the fish themselves or turn them over to another team or individual who desires them. Turning fish over to another team or individual does not relieve the team who caught the fish from their responsibility of insuring the fish are properly disposed of.

  16. In the event there are NO fish weighed in at a tournament, entry fees less the club portion ($2.50 per entrant; see rule 2) will be refunded to each paid entrant of that tournament.
